The Story
What Happened
On March 26, 2026, the owners of Burger Basket Monrovia, Pan and Watt, were the victims of a targeted home burglary that resulted in the loss of their entire life savings. Their apartment — just a short walk from the restaurant — was broken into by a group of 3–4 perpetrators and a getaway driver using a light gray Nissan Rogue SUV with stolen plates (9FIDO94).
An older man in a white hat first scouted the home by forcefully knocking on the windows. Minutes later, two younger men broke in through a small bathroom window (shown in the walkthrough video). Once inside, they manhandled the family's three dogs — who thankfully were not seriously hurt — by moving them into separate rooms, then went straight to the bedroom, stealing approximately $20,000 in valuables and around $140,000 in life savings — money earned over decades of hard work in the restaurant industry.
The emotional toll has been severe. Shortly after the burglary, Vorawat was hospitalized with a stress-induced condition, and the family temporarily closed Burger Basket to recover. Despite this devastation, the Monrovia community has shown overwhelming kindness — visiting the restaurant, offering support, and helping spread the word.
The Monrovia Police Department is actively investigating. If you recognize anyone in the videos or photos below, please contact MPD immediately.
